Five Generations of Feeding The World

When people picture a cattle ranch, they usually picture one big spread with a single fence line around it. That's not how it works here. Our operation is made up of smaller parcels scattered across the area — anywhere from 80 acres to 900 acres, with several miles between some of them. It's not one ranch you could point to on a map; it's a patchwork built up piece by piece since 1916.

One of our farm locations is a registered Oklahoma Centennial Farm — official recognition that it's been in continuous family agricultural use for over a hundred years.

I'm at least the fifth generation to run this operation, and I'm not doing it alone — the sixth and seventh generations are already involved, learning the same ground and the same herd I learned growing up.

Cattle alone don't make a living out here, so like most real farming and ranching families, we diversify — cotton, wheat, and hay alongside our Angus herd. It's harder work than a single crop or a single herd, but it's exactly how a family operation survives over a hundred years of Oklahoma weather, markets, and everything else in between.
